Military includes any and all servicemen and support personnel for any of the United States uniformed services. This includes the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps.
Military personnel are expected to maintain physical fitness, and a basic level of athleticism regardless of the role the fill in the military. All military personnel are also given basic training with firearms, some explosives, and some vehicle and technical operation. Certain military disciplines also receive advanced weapon, vehicle, or technical training. Military characters are typically combat oriented with strong Physical and Perception attributes, however the military is diverse enough to include characters with a wide variety of skills and abilities.
The Army includes Infantry, Paratroopers, Artillery, Mechanized Cavalry, Air Corps, Medical Corps, as well as support and technical staff.
The Marine Corps include Amphibious infantry, Rocket Infantry, and some small Air Services. Medical and technical support staff for the Marines are provided by the US Navy.
The Navy includes sailors, submariners, pilots, as well as medical and technical staff.
The Coast Guard is composed of sailors, gunners, medical, and technical support staff.
The NOAA Corps today provides a cadre of professionals trained in engineering, earth sciences, oceanography, meteorology, fisheries science, and other related disciplines. Officers operate ships, fly aircraft, and manage research projects.
The military has a strict and organized hierarchy and structure. Members of the military have regulations regarding dress and conduct, and are expected to obey orders. The military has a reputation for discipline, physical fitness, and strict training.
When considering the Military and it's various branches, most think of the fighting man only, but the career paths available within the Military are far more varied. The majority of the military is composed of the “fighting man,” however there are a vast array of additional support personnel within each branch of the military. There are a host of mechanics, office workers, military police, administrators, attorneys, calculation machine technicians, Robotic Automaton technicians, doctors, surgeons, and others. The military is a microcosm of the nation at large. Non fighting military personnel undergo the same basic combat training as do fighting men, and are expected to maintain a basic level of fitness and readiness in the event that they should be called on to fulfill combat duties, support personnel receive additional training relevant to the specialized role they fill within the military. Many go on to peruse civilian careers that echo the training they received within the military.
Starting in 1935 the Army and the Army Signal Corps initiated an Applied Psychokinesis program in answer to the similar program pioneered by the Nazis in Germany. Army and Navy PK classes are found on page 10 under Parapsychology, though they are considered a part of the Army or Navy respectively.
