to stop the war. This includes the location and condition of your home and transportation, as well as a measure of the
services you have procured.
Old Town Barracks |
The Old Town Barracks have been a housing point for the military in Avalon City since the late 20s. Though not an army base proper, the military stationed there are from all branches of the military, and are usually kept there for training purposes, or awaiting deployment to other locations.
Barracks housing is free to Military class characters, and it is not necessary to spend Lifestyle Points for Housing.
|
Slums: Old Town |
When construction was finally completed in Avalon City, the barracks style housing which was intended to be temporary shelter for many of the workers during construction was converted into government subsidized housing. This is the most dangerous part of Delaware. |
Bad Neighborhood: Old Town Central |
Old Town is considered by Avalon City government to be a problem area. Crime is pervasive, jobs are scarce, and the vast majority of legitimate business have moved either to the coastal regions of old town, and downtown, or have closed and boarded their doors permanently. |
Bad Neighborhood: Progress City |
Since the final completion of Avalon City, many areas of Progress City have experienced a sharp decline. Some have managed to reinvent themselves as commuting neighborhoods for Avalon City, some have converted to industrial areas, and some have sunk deeper into decline. Those nearest the city center have been hardest hit. |
Old Town: Coastal |
The Coastal regions of Old Town have gone through some rough times, but recent changes brought about by Mayor Dunningham, including a greater police presence and demolitions and renovation programs have greatly improved these areas. Many families feel more comfortable, but no one leaves their doors unlocked at night. |
Progress City |
Several communities in Progress City have become suburban neighborhoods like those seen in much of the Eastern United States, affordable tract style homes, apartments, and duplexes have been built in the last 20 years and have become a comfortable alternative to the rigors of city life, yet offer the convenience of ready access to the cosmopolitan hub of Avalon City. |
Landside Avalon City |
“Landside” refers to the portion of Avalon city facing the Delaware Coast. This is the fastest growing area of Avalon City and has become a popular location for young people to live with their families, as well as a business hub of it's own. |
Oceanside Avalon City |
The side of Avalon facing the Atlantic Ocean is the destination most urban professionals set their sights when selecting city life. The culture, finance, and shopping rival that of New York or London. |
Central Avalon City |
The very wealthy live in and around Electric Square, and south toward the fairgrounds along the spine of Avalon City. Penthouses and massive apartments atop glistening steel and glass skyscrapers is the ultimate goal for the well to do Elite. |
Living on the Street |
Finding shelter and food when and if you can, trying to avoid getting shot or robbed for the shoes on your feet. |
Should be Condemned |
These buildings are rotten, vermin infested, leaky, drafty, and reek of a variety of unpleasant odors that no one has the courage to find the source of. To say it is at least a roof over ones head, is true in the most literal sense of the phrase. |
Living with Family or Friends |
Those without a home, but with the luxury of good friends and family can take comfort on the sofa, or spare room, until they can get back on their feet. |
Bad |
Run down apartments and homes in severe need of repair. |
Decent |
These residences need repair, but are liveable by most standards. |
Average |
The average home could use some reapair, maintenance, and upgrades, but is comfortable and mostly clean. |
Good |
These above average residences are very clean, newer or recently remodeled, and quite attractive. |
Excellent |
Few expenses have been spared in time or money to craft these decadent residences. Without even meeting the owner, any who enter would be convinced he is one step short of royalty. |
No Services |
You are on your own, a self made mad or woman. |
Protection Money to Street Gangs |
This payment is usually to the prominent gang in the area, and often only insures that they will not rob your or mug you, and even then only if they do not see that you have something worth taking. However, those that do not pay it are unquestionably more at risk than those that do. |
Private Phone |
Once you have your own telephone right inside the house or apartment, you will never want to share a hallway phone or party line again. |
Protection Money to the Outfit |
When you pay the mob, you get a level of protection that is above that of a street gang. Smart criminals do not interfere with areas that are known to buy protection. Protection comes at a price, and often in addition to money, the Outfit feels that it can collect “favors” from their patrons. |
Laundry |
Door to door, or in house laundry services save time, and often produce a better result than trying to manage your laundry yourself. |
Doorman |
The Doorman is a buildings first line of defense. They keep out the solicitors, and much of the riff raff. They do have a phone just inside or sometimes outside in case they need to alert the police of any problems, but they are not trained security guards. |
Gardener |
A gardener can save you the time and hassle of managing your lawn and yard yourself, if you live in progress city and have a yard or live in an upscale neighborhood that includes either a rooftop or balcony garden. |
Butler or Valet |
A personal servant can attend to many of your needs and desires. They can help you dress, select appropriate attire, and manage the household while you attend to more pressing matters. |
Maid or Housekeeping |
Keeping the house clean is a time consuming affair, a maid or housekeeping staff can eliminate the clutter and keep things fresh and presentable 100% of the time. |
Uniformed Security Guard |
Typically armed, but not exclusively, a Uniformed security guard can be an effective deterrent against vandals and hooligans. |
Private Security Firm |
A professional security firm uses a mixture of highly trained uniformed and plain clothes guards, usually with military or law enforcement backgrounds to patrol the area night and day, locating and neutralizing threats in cooperation with local authorities. |
Walking |
Walking includes all forms of manual propulsion, it is free, and heart healthy. |
El-Trolley Token |
A spider web of Elevated Trolley lines network through the sky of Avalon City. For short trips, the El Trolley is an excellent way to move about the city inexpensively. In Downtown Avalon, most buildings over 20 stories tall feature an El-Trolley connection on the 20 th floor. In coastal neighborhoods and old town, tall towers connect the El Trolley to the rest of the city. The silver El-Trolley token allows pass holders to make as much use of the El-Trolley as they require for 3 months. |
Subway Pass |
Beneath the streets of Avalon City, the subway shuttles passengers about its several, stops. Medium distance trips, particularly from Old Town to Downtown, the, subway is the best option, and the Subway Pass allows the pass holder to use the,Subway as much as they require for 3 months. |
Avalon/Progress Metro Pass |
The popular Metro pass, combines the efficiency of the El-Trolley and Subway passes, and adds the convenience of access to the Progress Commuter train that connects Progress City and Avalon City through the Benjamin T. Biggs Tunnel. Pass Holders can use any and all of these convenient forms of public transportation with no limit for 3 months. |
